FIABCI is the international organisation of Federation of professional associations in the real estate professional organisations concerned with the real estate profession and was founded in Paris on the June 2, 1951. The constitution for the organisation were formulated and approved by the founding countries – namely Austria, Belgium, Germany, France and the United States. Today, the organisation has grown over the years and has provided an international link for over one million professionals in real estate all over the world. There are now 70 national associations in 48 countries that make up the membership of FIABCI. It is purely a professional, and therefore not non-political or non-religious body.
The mission of FIABCI
To provide real estate professionals throughout the world with an effective means of communication to enable them to share their knowledge and experience with one another and with the internal community in order to provide with optimal solution to its property needs.
Aim and objectives of FIABCI
FIABCI exists as an International organisation of the real estate profession with the following general aim and objectives:
- To represent and protect the real property professions and promote their image.
- To represent, protect and promote expansion of private real property interests throughout the world.
- To foster the exchange of cultural and educational information between real estate professionals of different countries.
- To facilitate international real estate business opportunities by those associated with FIABCI
- To collect and disseminate information and data on significant market, economic, government and technological conditions affecting the industry.
- To maintain an organisational structure, which efficiently uses the resources of the volunteer leadership and professional staff to effectively address the expectation of all members.
Types of membership
FIABCI is the forum for all actors of real estate across the world. FIABCI is a team of experts whose talents cover every stage of the property life cycle. FIABCI is comprised of:
- Mappers who locate land plots
- Town planners who consult
- Consultants who assess property value
- Valuers who estimate market value
- Financiers who provide necessary funding
- Developers who make sure the projects are built
- Agents to find occupants
- Managers to optimize investment
- Bankers who provide funding
- Insurers who advise and provide protection
- Interior designers who decorate.
Membership categories
- Institutions: Associations known as principal members, corporations, academic institutions, government entities.
- Individuals: Regular members, Individuals or companies practicing a real estate profession.
- Special Members: Individuals who are not real estate professionals, but whose activity is connected to the real estate professions.
- Direct Members: Membership is available in the following categories:
- Direct members National, regional and multinational chapters.
- Multinational Members Associations whose members are exclusively national associations from several countries.
- Direct Principal Members Associations of individuals and/or companies providing services to, or associated with, the real estate profession and whose headquarters are located in countries where there is no FIABCI chapter.
- Direct Corporate Members Multinational Companies providing services to, or associated with, the real estate profession.
- Direct Public Sector Members Governmental agencies or international public agencies.
